Resource Teacher

Field of activities

Under the authority of the Mohawk Council of Kanesatake and in collaboration with the Kanehsatà:ke Education Center. Under the direct supervision of the Ratihente High School Principal the resource teacher’s job is to provide direct instructional support services to students who present learning difficulties.

Prerequisites

  1. Bachelor of Education Degree with specialization in Special Education or Bachelor’s degree with teaching license (brevet) and equivalent experience.
  2. Knowledge of best practices in inclusive education.
  3. Possess the ability to create a safe and nurturing learning environment that supports the unique developmental needs of children.
  4. Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Knowledge of Kanien’keha:ka people, language, culture and history is an asset.
  6. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  7. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and competence in conflict resolution.
  8. Excellent team building and organization skills.

Probation Period: The successful candidate will be subjected to a six (6) month probation period.
