Psychologist

Field of activities

Under the authority of the Mohawk Council of Kanesatake and in collaboration with the Kanehsatà:ke Education Center, will report directly to the Ratihén:te Principal. The Psychologist’s job is to conduct prevention and screening activities, providing guidance to students experiencing or at risk of social maladjustments or learning difficulties.The role includes evaluating students’ psychological and mental functioning, and promoting overall mental health. The psychologist will work to restore and maintain students’ psychological well-being, facilitating their personal, social, and educational development. The psychologist will have experience supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, helping them navigate challenges and thrive in their academic and social environments.

Prerequisites

  1. Be a Member of the Ordre Des Psychologues du Québec.
  2. Experience working with First Nations/Inuit and/or cultural competency.
  3. Provide specialized support to students who have experienced trauma.
  4. Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Knowledge of Kanien’keha:ka people, language, culture and history is a strong asset.
  6. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  7. Being a part of the NIHB Mental Health Counselling Provider network is considered an asset.

Probation Period: The successful candidate will be subjected to a six (6) month probation period.
